We here at the home of The Royal Monkeys are suffering from an overload of Trick-or-Treat candy.
If you want to rid your home of those tasty, but unnecessary, sugar calories, consider the Halloween Candy Buyback Program. This is run by dentists, around 200 nationally this year, who pay up to $1/pound for wrapped Halloween candy. They then send the candy to US Troops stationed overseas. It’s a win-win. Search online for dentists participating in your area or just call your dentist and ask around town.
If there isn’t a local dentist in your area participating in this program, you can also send your wrapped Halloween candy to Operation Gratitude. There’s a nice wish list on their site. This would be a great service project for children involved in Scouting, sports, church, school. You do pay the cost of shipping the package to Operation Gratitude, but it’s money well spent. Our US Soldiers are out there in harm’s way for you at home, not the politicians. For us.
